Libre Graphics Meeting fundraising campaign over: declared a success

The Libre Graphics Meeting fundraising campaign has come to an end. After two weeks, the campaign raised USD$11,368 from over 275 donors, and the campaign badge which people could use to publicise the campaign appeared on over 750 sites, generating in excess of 850,000 page-views over the duration of the campaign.

Dave Neary, organiser of the fundraising campaign, is delighted with the result. “When you run a campaign of this size, you always wonder whether it will catch the imagination of people or not. That we managed to raise so much, from so many, over such a short period, is a testimony to the passion which free software graphics applications generate in our users.”

The funds will now be made vailable to the conference organisers to allow them to pay travel costs for core developers of applications like the GIMP, Inkscape and Scribus to attend the conference, which will be held from the 8th to the 10th of May this year.
